Pastor Robert and Hazel Gower, along with two families and a single lady, began Berean Baptist Church on March 30, 1969. Berean is an Independent, Bible-believing Baptist Church with conservative Christian music that strives to hold forth the faithful Word and honor the Lord in everything we do.

     At the age of 19, Pastor was the first member in his family of 14 to become a Christian, going on to lead most of them--including his parents--to the Lord. He met Hazel, who has been saved since the age of 4, at Practical Bible Training School where they both graduated in 1962. The Gowers were planning to become missionaries when the Lord changed their path, calling them to Manassas. Pastor Gower also attended Grand Rapids Baptist College and Seminary and Grand Rapids Junior College. The Gowers have a heart for ministering and missions.
